Miss Universe 2009 Stefanía Fernandéz Miss Venezuela 2008.

Stefanía Fernández Krupij (born September 4, 1990, in Mérida, Venezuela) is the reigning Miss Universe 2009.
Fernández is of Polish origin; she practices tennis and swimming. Her mother is Nadia Krupij Holojad and her father is José Luis Fernández, who was kidnapped in 2005 in the Venezuelan state of Barinas for five days.


Fernández won the Miss Venezuela 2008 title in a pageant held in Caracas on September 10, 2008. She was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Dayana Mendoza, Miss Venezuela 2007 and Miss Universe 2008 Fernández also won the "Miss Elegance", "Best Body" and "Best Face", titles. She became the second Miss Trujillo to win that title since the Miss Venezuela pageant first began in 1952. The first was Bárbara Palacios, Miss Venezuela 1986 and Miss Universe 1986.

Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza, also from Venezuela, crowned her as Miss Universe 2009Nassau, Bahamas. This marks the first time in Miss Universe history the same country won the crown in consecutive years. Her prize package includes cash, a year contract promoting Miss Universe, world travel, a rent-free, prestigious New York City luxury apartment and a gift bag stuffed with designer shoes, dresses and beauty products, a US$100,000 stipend for a two-year course at the New York Film Academy and free access to famous fashion houses and beauty parlors. 1st Runner-up Ada de la Cruz Ramirez Miss Dominican Republic 2009.

Ada Aimée de la Cruz Ramirez (born on June 15, 1986 in Villa Mella, Dominican Republic) is Miss Dominican Republic 2009.

She first came to fame as Miss Dominican Republic World 2007, where she placed in the top 15 at Miss World 2007 and was Miss World Beach Beauty 2007. She later was crowned Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2009 representing the original home of her grandparents, the Province of San José de Ocoa and represented the Dominican Republic at the Miss Universe 2009 gaining high praise and finishing as First Runner Up.

She is the second woman of noticeably black heritage to win the Miss Dominican Republic pageant (the first was Ruth Ocumárez in 2001).

Ada was born in Villa Mella and raised in Villa Altagracia and returned to the capital at the age of 14, lives with her mother Ana Martínez Ramírez, grandparents Celeste Ramírez and Ventura Garabito, her younger brother Adrián and her little cousin. In the Dominican press, she is known as a Dominican Cinderella, in which her grandmother was a maid and her whole family grew up poor.

She also competed in the Miss Dominican Republic Universe 2007, where she remained among the Top 10 semifinalists. Ada is the first Dominican to win the Miss World Beach Beauty in the Miss World 2007 pageant. She has participated in international gateways, such as Miami Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Dominicana Moda, among other.

In the 2009 Miss Universe competition, she became the First runner-up.


2nd Runner-up Marigona Dragusha Miss Universe Kosovo.

Marigona “Gona” Dragusha is a pageant titleholder from Kosovo who placed as the 2nd Runner-up at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant, only behind the eventual winner, Venezuela's Stefanía Fernández, and the 1st Runner-up Ada de la Cruz from the Dominican Republic.

Marigona won her national title, Miss Universe Kosovo, on 4 April 2009. Gona is fluent in Albanian and speaks conversational Spanish which, as she confessed on the air before the Miss Universe pageant in the Bahamas, she learned entirely from watching Spanish novellas (soap operas).

3rd Runner-up Rachael Finch Miss Unirse Australia.

Rachel Finch is an Australian model. She finished in fourth place in the 2009 Miss Universe pageant.

Rachael was crowned Miss Universe Australia on 22 April 2009 and subsequently represented Australia at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant held in the Bahamas on 23 August 2009.

Finch was involved in a controversy which almost resulted in her being dethroned from the Miss Universe Australia title. In another incident, only days before leaving for the Bahamas, Finch was attacked by a crocodile as she left a crocodile show at Crocodylus Park in Darwin.

4th Runner-up Mayra Matos Peréz Miss Puerto Rico Unirse 2009.

Mayra Matos Pérez is a Puerto Rican beauty pageant titleholder. In 2006, Mayra won the title of Miss Teen International. In October of 2008, Mayra won the title of Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2009 , representing the city of Cabo Rojo, she also won the award for Most Beautiful Face. Mayra represented Puerto Rico at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant in Nassau, Bahamas on August 23, 2009, winning fourth runner-up.

Matos wore a dress modeled after boxing gear during the traditional costume competition, the piece included a hooded robe, gloves and a championship belt bearing the Coat of arms of Puerto Rico.

The outfit was a nod to the archipelago's boxing tradition, which has produced more champions per capita than any other location in the world.
