Rachel Comey Spring 2010 Ready to Wear.

St. Vincent performed covers throughout Rachel Comey's rooftop show, with mop-topped singer Annie Clark looking every inch the designer's ideal woman.

You know, a clog-loving type with what Comey likes to call "artistic sensibilities."

For Clark and co. there were button-back cardigans, cheery prints, and multipurpose pieces like a taffeta anorak blazer with removable pockets and a hidden hood—not to mention lots of the quirky (and this season, somewhat boyish) footwear that the designer is known for. (We spotted quite a few Comey shoes in the crowd.)

That might explain the plethora of skorts—in all sorts of variations—that dominated the show and made it feel, at times, repetitive and in need of further editing.

Still, there were plenty of covetable daytime separates, some with a vaguely fifties camping feel. Comey was cheered on by the sun, which obligingly came out halfway through her alfresco affair—though a trio of smart raincoats demonstrated that she was prepared for any contingency.
